"Zena," Chisums Starbert Ty, adds solid bulldog type, exceptional bone and limbs, a typey head and desirable outcross bloodlines to our Foundation Quarter Horse breeding program. Built like the proverbial tank, Zena has ample bone, roomy hooves, short cannons and low set hocks. This conformation produces athletic foals with extreme agility ideal for cutting, reining, roping, team sorting and team penning as well as other ranching disciplines.  Zena's strong build is matched by her fearless nature. Her deep golden buckskin tone also offers less represented color DNA to the Foundation Quarter Horse gene pool. Her foals are richly colored, fast, cat-like and bold with calm, sensible-minded temperaments.

Zena's bloodlines are a resource for the sought-after, very hard-to-find line of Cutter Bill.  Cutter Bill was inducted into the AQHA Hall of Fame in 2003 and was long considered one of the cutting greats. In 1962, Cutter Bill secured the NCHA World Title achieving record setting earnings in National Cutting Horse Association.  That same year, the stallion won the AQHA Honor Roll Cutting Horse Title. Cutter Bill was the first horse to win both honors in one year.

Zena's pedigree is also crossed twice with AQHA Hall of Famer, Harlan. In 1965-66, Harlan won the AQHA leading get-of-sire award. Over 35 years later, he was the all-time leading sire of AQHA Champions in 1999. Other Foundation stars include AQHA Champion, Ben Mark, Poco Bueno, King and Rey Del Rancho. Rey Del Rancho was steeply line-bred Old Sorrel, King Ranch's Founding Sire. We are super excited about Zena's upcoming foals by our senior stallion, Jaz Poco Zorro, 100% NFQHA Foundation. We expect Zorro will further compliment with balanced conformation, athleticism and a great temperament.
